Disability inclusion
Dylan leads every mission. The book is for children with rare genetic syndromes, complex medical needs, and their own ways of moving and speaking, and for the friends who make room for them.
A picture book by Natalia Cordero
Dylan is the commander of a high-tech bedroom. His ceiling lift is a rocket, his G-tube is a turbo fuel port, and his speech device gives the orders. His mom, Natalia Cordero, wrote this book so children with complex needs can see themselves as the hero.
Launch day is Black Friday, November 27, 2026.

Commander Dylan's Adventures is told in Dylan's voice. He is sixteen, and his bedroom is mission control. Mornings begin on a SleepSafe bed. A ceiling lift, the Rocket Lift, carries him while Mom calls the flight deck and his AAC talker answers, “All systems go. Prepare for launch.”
The day keeps its superhero names for real equipment. A G-tube is the Turbo Fuel Port. Spa day is a roll-in shower. A bright blue cape is the bib that protects his shirt. Racing stripes spin on his wheelchair. Therapy means standing tall in a Tower Stander with Mom and his therapist. The accessible van is the Star Cruiser, ramp down, music up. Cousins Mila and Mia climb in beside him and stand up for him if someone stares.
“Love and inclusion are the ultimate superpowers.”
The back of the book includes an AAC guide, a glossary of the tools in Dylan's world, and a plain-language page about the many ways people move and speak.
Dedication. For Dylan, my commander, my hero, and my greatest joy. Thank you for showing the world that adventure has no limits, that laughter is the ultimate superpower, and that every single day is worth celebrating. This story is for you, and for every kid who rolls, flies, speaks in their own unique way, and lights up the world just by being themselves. With love, Mom.
The cover is on this page. The pictures inside the book are not. Dylan's day is drawn in high-contrast color, and those pages are yours to open.
Eight missions follow one day, from the Rocket Lift to bedtime blast-off. The drawings of the cape, the tower stander, the Star Cruiser, and cousins Mila and Mia stay in the book.
Natalia Cordero is Dylan's mom, his caregiver, and the author of this book. She is a single mother. Caring for Dylan made her an advocate and, in her words, his biggest cheerleader. What she knows about resilience, strength, unconditional love, and joy, she learned from him.
“Children with rare genetic syndromes, complex medical needs, and unique ways of moving and communicating deserve to see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.”
Natalia Cordero, Mom, Caregiver, and Author
She wrote Commander Dylan's Adventures so a ceiling lift can be a rocket launcher, a G-tube can be a turbo fuel port, and an AAC speech device can be a high-tech superhero tool. The book is independently published. Copyright 2026 Natalia Cordero.
The Kindle edition says it on the title page: designed with high-contrast, CVI-friendly concepts celebrating disability inclusion, adaptive equipment, and family support.

A wheelchair, an AAC talker, a G-tube, a ceiling lift, a tower stander, and an accessible van are part of the adventure. The glossary in the back explains each tool in plain language, including CVI, cortical visual impairment.
Mom is flight deck, pit crew, and the goodnight kiss. Cousins Mila and Mia play, help, and speak up. A therapist cheers the stander mission. Nobody does the day alone.
This website follows the same idea as the pictures: large type, navy and yellow, simple layouts, and no flashing motion. CVI is a visual processing style where bright, high-contrast colors are easiest to see. The book says so, and the page is built that way too.

CVI means cortical visual impairment, a visual processing style where bright, high-contrast colors are easiest to see. The book uses those ideas on purpose. This site uses large type, a red header, navy and yellow sections, and no flashing animation.
Dylan is Natalia Cordero's son. In the story he is sixteen and the commander of a high-tech bedroom. He uses a wheelchair, an AAC speech device, a G-tube, a ceiling lift, a tower stander, and an accessible van. The book celebrates those tools instead of hiding them.
